The Handheld Camera
Handheld Camerawork is in my opinion still a very useful tool for visual storytelling. Many DPs argue that it creates a kinetic visual experience. I'm not so sure about the hockie language but I will admit that watching a well executed handheld shot can be very powerful.
There is a time and a place for handheld work since it is a visual style and a choice. I always question when a director tells me they want to shoot handheld what the motivation is to do so.
